Late fall engagement session at the most amazing Carrigan Farms? Brilliant colors in the trees? Gorgeous reflections on the water, and just enough of a nip in the air to remind us that winter is right around the corner? Swoon. Seriously this was one of those engagement sessions where everything just fell perfectly into place, and even their sweet dog Bella was able to stop chasing Frisbies long enough to get into a few shots. Angela and Peter have a special connection that is apparent the first time you see them together and at times, it seemed that they were in their own world totally oblivious to the fact that we were even there.

We. Love. This couple. Kris and Ryan are two of the sweetest people you’d ever want to meet and we had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with them at Freedom Park on a Sunday with every other photographer in Charlotte shooting babies, engagements and anything you could possibly imagine. “But Love Shutter, these photos don’t look like the traditional Freedom Park photo shoots and you can’t even see anyone else in the photos.” Exactly! We took the path less traveled and went to a few of our favorite tucked away spots and walked away with an engagement session that was totally Kris and Ryan. Beautiful. Warm. Genuine. Awesome.

Charleston engagement session? Can you say hell yeah?! Claire and Martin invited us to return to Charleston for their engagement session and seeing as C-town is where Martin first proposed and also one of our mostest-favoritest places on earth, we were all in. We dodged raindrops all day and were able to shoot some amazing shots at some of their favorite hangouts including Pitt bridge and all the scenic back stsreets and cobblestones that make Charleston, Charloeston. It’s clear from the first minute you meet them that they are completely-head-over-heels in love and we can’t wait to see them again on their wedding day. Especially when Martin gets the toes cut off his socks during the reception. Yep, it’s an old school Danish tradition, it’s gonna happen and we’ll have the pics. Stay tuned. Or, as they say in Danish-land; Vær klar!

It’s raining its pouring, but this couple is far from boring. Erica and Franklin, two recent transplants from St. Louis Missouri, are some of the warmest most genuine people you will ever meet. But no one told that to the weatherman. Five minutes after we started the session so did the rain. Did that stop the intrepid Love Shutter duo? Not a chance. We did what we normally do when we can’t control the weather: we ignore it and make it look like it’s a beautiful day. We brought out the big lighting guns and a few other tricks up our sleeve, and transformed an otherwise gloomy and dreary day into beautiful soft light. We just cranked out the artificial sun and made some magic.

Oh my where to begin? With the South Carolina low country as a back drop and enough Spanish Moss, gorgeous scenery and humongous trees to keep us on an eye candy high for hours, this was one engagement shoot that had EPIC written all over it. And EPIC it was. Not to mention the fact that Brittany and Brad are two of the warmest most genuine people you’d ever want to meet. Mix all that together and you have the makings for a fantastic engagement session. This couple brought the engagement heat and were up for anything creative, including finding a way into a moss covered tree limb 10’ off the ground. No skinny jeans were harmed in the making of this shoot.

When we first met Brandy and Greg, it was less like an introduction and more like a reunion of old friends. When Brandy suggested an engagement session at the County Fair we said ‘Hell yeah!’ faster than you can lose $10 trying to win a giant Teddy Bear at the frog launch. In the end, corn dogs, french fries and funnel cakes were eaten. Photos were taken. And lifelong friends were made.

There’s nothing we love more than learning one of our brides recommended us to one of their friends. Here is a perfect example: Jenna and Dave, friends of Sarah and Jeremy (current bride and groom), came to us for their engagement pictures before they returned to Michigan for their wedding. And oh what fun we had! Hanging out by beautiful trees, standing in a grape arbor, eating fresh figs right off the tree, basking in the amazing sunset, and praying the rain away. I mean, really, what more could you want for an engagement shoot? Enjoy some of our favorites!

As Waxhaw newbs, we had no idea what was in store for us when Catlin and Aaron suggested Waxhaw as a small town location for their engagement session. Catlin had family friends in Waxhaw and knew the area well; she assured us it would be a hit. And boy was it!

For those of our readers who follow us on Facebook, you might remember that Catlin and Aaron were the winners of our ‘Fantastic 50′ promotion and received a 50% discount off their complete wedding in May 2013. Although we had met with Catlin several times and immediately clicked with her outstanding personality, this was our first time meeting Aaron, and let me tell you, he brought it!

Clearly these two are meant for each other: affectionate, caring, and a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e. It seemed like all we had to do was turn our cameras on and point them in their general direction. Based on our amazing day with Catlin and Aaron, we can only imagine how fantastic their wedding will be. Congratulations to our new friends.

These two love birds both felt the desire to have their engagement session taken in a historical setting where going to the nearest drug store was the cool thing to do and buying a bottle of soda for your sweetheart was the most of your worries. With fantastic open fields around the corner and the sun dipping below the trees, I would imagine it would be hard not to fall in love all over again. And thanks to our friends at the Davidson Soda Shop, we were able to end the night with cream sodas and french fries to share! Who said we couldn’t go back to a simpler time?

How does a back yard picnic for two sound? With fresh watermelon, strawberries, and handmade lemonade served over frozen raspberries, doesn’t that just sound great!? Add an amazing couple, two crazy photographers and beautiful lighting and you get Sarah and Scott’s engagement pictures. Starting at their cozy home and ending with the beautiful city lights behind them, this shoot could not have been better. Here’s to our favorite foodies: Sarah and Scott. The Windy city: home of Michael Jordan, the world’s best hot dogs and the launching pad for the marriage of Sarah and Jeremy. If you were to look at it on paper, you might not think these two were made for each other. He’s from Clemson, she’s from Michigan State, yet they met by chance while doing internships at Kraft Foods in Chicago and they have been stuck together like macaroni and cheese ever since. Even though neither one of them are exactly sure of where their first date was, they’re pretty certain it had something to do with basketball. They both love to watch and play the game and credit the time they spent together on the court with cementing their relationship. Chicago? Basketball? North Carolina? Is anyone else getting a sense this was a match made in heaven?

Stephanie and Josh originally met in high school and their love blossomed 3 years ago while on a trip to OIB. (Ocean Isle Beach for you non-beach folks.) This outgoing couple is not only outdoorsy and easy going, but they’re both hard workers and when they make time for each other, they love to grill out at their house with a bottle of wine and just relax. So what better location for their engagement shoot than a vineyard? Cheers! I’ll drink to that!

These two crazy love birds met in the heart of downtown Charlotte while playing flag football. After trying to set each other up with different friends, they finally realized what they had been waiting for all along, was right in front of them. With seven years of being in love and building a life together in Charlotte, it seemed fitting that their engagement session should be a reflection of their love and relationship in the heart of the city. With a day as beautiful as this and a couple as fun as Diana and Kevin, what more could you ask for? I mean can you say “touchdown!”

I don’t know if it’s the mountains or the fantastic weather we had, but dang, Bailey and Brandon looked absolutely incredible for their engagement shoot.

When we met Mckenzie and David, they were in from Chicago to finish planning their Asheville wedding. After we chatted, the light looked too fantastic not to shoot a few impromptu engagement shots for some new friends from our old hometown.

Sometimes I think God looks down and and says, “Here’s a fantastic couple and a beautiful sky for you to shoot today.” The only thing that could have made this engagement shoot any better would be…O.K., there’s nothing that could have made it better, it was absolutely perfect. See for yourself.
